Understanding the Challenge

AIDA focuses on the infectious diseases and public health challenges that place the greatest burden on communities across Africa. Through prevention, surveillance, education, research, and healthcare partnerships, we support efforts that strengthen preparedness and improve health outcomes.

Infectious diseases remain one of the leading public health concerns across Africa. While significant progress has been made in prevention and treatment, millions of people continue to face risks associated with malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, emerging outbreaks, neglected tropical diseases, and vaccine-preventable illnesses.

AIDA’s approach focuses on prevention, early detection, rapid response, public health education, and community resilience.

HIV/AIDS Prevention & Treatment

Supporting awareness, prevention, testing initiatives, and access to care through partnerships and community engagement.

Malaria Control & Elimination

Promoting prevention strategies, community education, mosquito control initiatives, and improved access to treatment.

Tuberculosis Detection & Care

Supporting early identification, public awareness, healthcare coordination, and access to treatment services.

Outbreak Preparedness & Response

Focused on diseases such as Ebola, Marburg, Mpox, and Cholera through preparedness planning and rapid response support.

Neglected Tropical Diseases

Addressing diseases that disproportionately affect vulnerable communities through education, prevention, and public health initiatives.

Vaccination & Immunization

Supporting awareness and access to routine immunization programs that protect communities from preventable diseases.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Improving public health through hygiene education, sanitation initiatives, and access to clean water resources.

Research, Surveillance & Public Health Education

Supporting disease monitoring, public health awareness, data-driven decision making, and healthcare education initiatives.

Prevention Protects Communities

Most outbreaks become emergencies because they are detected too late.

Investing in surveillance, healthcare access, education, vaccination, sanitation, and rapid response systems helps communities identify threats earlier and respond more effectively.

By strengthening prevention systems today, communities are better prepared for tomorrow’s public health challenges.
